to develop a variable gauge EMU, which in addition
to this technology incorporated the results of
several years of research leading to the Series 120 s130
EMUs.
The Subseries 120.050 features a number
of improvements in terms of traction and safety
systems, as well as having fewer seats. The Series
121 is an evolution of the 120 with more seats.
Talgo
series 130 and 730
In July 2002, Renfe decided that the Talgo 7 locomotive-
hauled trains in operation should have their own
tractor unit, a possibility already planned for in the
original design. A call for tenders was issued for the
manufacture of 44 traction heads, with variable s730
